Check out Erin and Brad's wedding day! They were a blast to work with. Married in Petoskey in the church, they took a trolly to Boyne Highlands for their reception. Along the way we stopped at some fun places for pictures. We even rode the ski lift! Congrats you two!!

Jessica and Nate were married in August in Petoskey. I'm in love with the wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses they chose. The bridesmaids looked so cute in their short bubble gum pink dresses. It makes me so happy when I show up to shoot a wedding and I see pink and lily flowers! The wedding was beautiful, and Chris and I had a blast shooting it. Thanks Jessica and Nate!

Adele & John's Wedding

On May 21st I had the pleasure of working with Adele and John for their wedding day. From their fun personalities to their quirky center pieces, these two were so great to work with. Their wedding started at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Petoskey, Michigan. This is one of my all time favorite churches to work in. It is absolutely stunning. I had the pleasure of working there once last year too. From there, the bride and groom traveled with their families and the bridal party by Trolly to the water front in Petoskey. We started with some traditional shots of the wedding party and did lots of fun, crazy poses. This group was up for anything and everything, including running together towards the camera. Time flies when I get the opportunity to work with a fun group.

The day continued with the reception at the Inn at Bay Harbor Golf Club. It's a wonderful location for receptions, with a balcony that overlooks the water, tall windows, and a unique layout. Inside the bride and groom had each table decorated with a unique centerpiece. There were different themes with toy figurines, and a card box made out of legos. For sure the most creative centerpieces I've seen. After the excellent dinner they served, they went on to my favorite part of the day. The most unforgettable- what they chose to do in place of the first dance. Adele and John went to the dance floor and played Rock Band together for everyone to see. I laughed out loud.

Chris introduced me to a site that I'm now absolutely obsessed with. Design Aglow sells all kinds of templates and products for professional photographers. It's a contagious store and an inspiration to new ideas I have. I'm so happy to show off this site as an example to clients as what I can provide for them. I'm working on putting together some specific add on packages to my main wedding packages. They'll contain fun collages like this, special book templates, retro polaroid canvases, layouts for cards, etc.

Had a good time doing engagement photos of Jessica & Nate! It was such a cold day, but we managed to get some great shots in Petoskey. I can't wait to do their wedding photos. They are such an attractive couple, it makes my job super easy and fun. Might be able to talk them into a day after session? Photos of the two of them for sure help out my portfolio.

With as much work as I do in Petoskey, I kinda wonder what it would be like to have my studio again. :) ...and then I remember the cost of it. I do miss spending most of my time over there.

This is my favorite picture from the day. I think Brooke looks absolutely amazing, and this picture speaks to me.

Sara Engel painted this piece of art. As the guests arrived, they would stamp their finger print in green and make leaves for the tree as their one of a kind guest signing.

The details of the day were so charming. An outdoor theme, they had glittering snow flakes, a tree with branches that held the place seating cards, and the cake sat atop of a stump with little birds decorating it. So adorable.

Neile & Denny got married last August. I'm just now posting these. It was such a fun wedding. We stopped in between the wedding and reception to take pictures at the lake. We started in the street and then went to the water, and finished in some cherry tree orchards that we didn't have permission to be in...; ) It was a frigid day, but we managed to have lots of fun and get great photos! Here are some photos from the wedding of Anne and Nate. The wedding was held at the Les Cheneaux Yacht Club on an island. We took a boat out from Cedarville to get there. It was such a nice change of scenery for us. The weather was absolutely perfect, and the wedding couple so easy and fun to work with. When the day was done, we watched the sun set on our boat ride back. Congrats Anne and Nate!! Thanks for a blast!

Dee and Jeremy were a wonderfully cute couple from Maryland that destined to be married at the Castle in Charlevoix. The wedding was beautiful. I especially loved the cake toppers....two birds. Two birds that I believe are Dee and Jeremy as love birds. Dee obviously spent a lot of time on details. Even the flower arrangements had little bird pendants around them. The details were adorable and the couple was admirable. As the day came to an end, I wore a huge smile on my face. Ahhh...I love the happy, fun couples that make my job a gift! Thanks Dee and Jeremy for letting me be a part of your wedding day!

Maggie & Casey have a beautiful two day wedding. It was wonderful. The first day was the actual wedding which was in Charlevoix at the beach. It was a perfect sunny day, and Maggie and Casey looked amazing! The second day was in Saginaw at the Temple Theater. They had a magnificent reception there. The reception room and decorations were oh so pretty. Maggie and Casey were very driven to get nice pictures, and spent lots of time taking them. Maggie was beautiful! She even had a different hair do the second day! There were many fun aspects of this wedding, including bouquets that consisted of orchids and bright colors, the guys wearing Converse shoes, and Maggie and her father "getting down" during the father daughter dance. And at the end of this two day event, two wonderful people were committed to one another. I love my job.

My friend, Danielle, and I took the kids to Sylvan and walked the trails until we were confronted by a worker telling us we shouldn't be there. I took a few pictures that I think are pretty. Thanks to Katie Beals for putting on the white dress and becoming, well- a bride!!! As cool and fun as this session was, this Trash the Dress session was completely staged. Katie was generous to let me shoot her for a bit in a big, white, lovely wedding gown. And P.S.....I think she liked it!!
;) She did a lovely job! Future and past brides- if you like these picture, give me a call. I'm willing to do these sessions very cheap and even free sometimes. I'm looking to build my portfolio! This is a session where we go out and shoot the bride and sometimes the bride and groom in their attire, looking gorgeous and sexy. A popular trend is to put beautiful brides in urban, dirty settings. Sometime the brides even trash their dresses by getting in the mud or tearing or cutting their gowns, hence the name "Trash the Dress". Though this makes for some interesting pictures, this isn't necessary to capture truly phenomenal images. A bride in her gown, here or there is absolutely amazing. We can help capture that!!! So, I traveled to Mackinac Island to take some pictures of an adorable couple named Freddie & Veronika. The travel was of a nightmare with a long drive in the pouring rain, running behind, only to get there right on time for the ferry. Only...I was at the wrong ferry. After being told I was at the wrong location, I jumped in my car as fast as I could to find the "right" ferry location. I found it. Too late. Have to wait. I purchase ferry tickets and call my wonderful couple that are anticipating the shoot. They completely understood my delay. I sat for almost an hour in the waiting room. Watching out the window, I saw huge crashing waves and rain down pouring. Am I really awaiting an hour long session in this hurricane?...lol...I know- a little dramatic, but what about the camera? What about my nice lens? Can I really shoot these people while the world is raining down on us? I wait....I board....I ride....I arrive. Freddie greets me with a huge smile and a bright red rain coat. How sweet he is to let his wife wait for us keeping dry. I like him already. We walk a couple blocks making small talk and quickly I fall in love with the picture opportunity. He brings me to his lovely wife. She is lovely and very pregnant and has the most wonderful accent. The rain..continues...

We start shooting and before you know it- we have tons of photos. Though the rain was coming down in sheets, this couple was amazingly ready and willing to capture their special day. These are pregnancy photos, but also anniversary pics....how wonderful. So I try my hardest. I think we got some great shots. They were so cute. Here are a few of my favorites.

By the end of our session, I realized that I can work around the rain. Working with a couple as lovely as them, my job is wonderful- rain or snow. :)

New Look!

Hello all! I am happy to announce, with the start of the new year, Leah Renee Photography has a new look and style! The website is new and cool with a more artsy "Leah" feel. I've also went back to my original logo design. Why did I ever stray?? The new site is bringing crazy amounts of emails to my inbox. I don't know if I can keep up! :) And business is booming with wedding bookings! Thank you so much to all of you for the compliments on the new site!
